Gingko Biloba L. leaves, Quercus Rubra L. leaves and nails

" /   O   _ " is an installation with leaves of imported trees that are used to decore the streets of many European cities because of their form and color. The leaves laid down over nails orientated to cardinal points in relation to their origin of the trees species and they move or fail down as the air stream changes.

The first Ginkgo Biloba seed was brought from Japan in 1692 by Engelbert Kaempfer, and was planted in Botanische Tuinen in Utrecht. The first Quercus Rubra seed might have been brought from North America by an unidentified expedition around XVIII.
